The publication captures the core of ADB's operations in India and showcases select ADB interventions that are helping the government achieve its development goals. ADB supports the Government of India’s vision of faster, more inclusive, and sustainable growth and has been a partner in its development efforts for about 3 decades now. India is now the top borrower of ADB’s loans from Ordinary Capital Resources. Between 1986 and 2013, ADB approved 210 loans worth $31.5 billion, largely toward developing infrastructure in the transport, energy, and urban sectors, as well as supporting the finance sector. Value addition through technical assistance, capacity building, strengthening institutions, supporting innovations, and facilitating knowledge sharing is at the core of ADB operations in India. ADB remains committed to support India’s development goals by focusing on gender sensitivity, skill building, environmental sustainability, and regional cooperation.
