Published By: Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) | Published Date: October, 01 , 2015Intimate partner relationships which are self-arranged, non-marital and non-cohabiting have rarely been a part of the violence against women (VAW) discourse. Such violence comes into the limelight especially when the aggression, takes an extremely grievous physical form, such as acid attacks. This paper attempts to understand the gamut of violence within non-marital and non-domestic intimate partner relationships which have been registered at the Special Cells for Women and Children, Mumbai and aims to map out strategies for working with survivors of intimate partner violence for VAW interventionists.
