Livelihood Options of Dalit: An Analysis with Reference to Land Resources

Land is regarded as an important source of livelihoods to many people, especially rural people. For those people, access to and control over land resources is the source of livelihoods. Therefore, land ownership is a special preference for them. The main objective of this thesis is to explore the livelihood options, coping strategy of the Dalit population who are considered as synonymous to landlessness. What are the other options besides the caste based occupation which is replaced by modern technologies for Dalit is the main focus of this research. For these different methodologies has been applied to gather the information from the Dalit community. A whole season of winter was expended in Kailali district to observe the living style of the community and incorporate the data. Many published and unpublished materials were reviewed to know about the existing practices for their subsistence.
