Child Labour and Legislative Framework

Published By: V.V. Giri National Labour Institute | Published Date: January, 01 , 2013

Employment of children amounts to denial of rights of future generation and depriving children of their opportunities to growth. Moreover, working at tender age in hazardous conditions exposes children to various miseries and hampers their mental, physical, moral and psychological development. The challenge of preventing and eliminating child labour requires far greater commitment than most other developmental activities. Legislation is one of the effective weapons to end Child labour. Child Labour and Legislative Framework is a compilation and collection of useful information on significant aspects of legislative initiatives aimed at prevention and elimination of child labour. The idea is to make available basic information on child labour at one place, which would be useful for all those who are working towards combating child labour. This document has been prepared as a part of the project ‘Establishment of National Knowledge Centre on Child Labour at the V.V. Giri National Labour Institute’ a component of ILO-Convergence Child Labour Project.
