Sex Ratios and Gender Biased Sex Selection History, Debates and Future Directions

Its aim is to provide a road map for what has become an extremely wide ranging field of research, and in doing so, to indicate future directions for fruitful inquiry. The report begins by adopting a historical perspective, given that the problem of ‘missing women’, a phrase coined by Amartya Sen in 1990, is by no means new.
