Dynamics of Informal Employment in Maharashtra: Prelude to a Triad

The paper examines, using unit National Sample Survey (NSS) 61st, 66th and 68th rounds, of household, personal, and labour market characteristics of persons who are 15 years and above, living in Maharashtra. The focus of the analysis is to understand the dimensions and nature of informal employment in the state. Such an understanding should yield ideas forinitiating progressive reforms to make informal employment a decent option of livelihood.
