India Infrastructure Report 2013|14

A key measure of the social and economic development of a country is the health of its population. This year, in the India Infrastructure Report (IIR) series, it discusses some of the issues and challenges in the health sector. In doing so, it continues with the focus on social infrastructure, having covered various aspects of the education sector, including the role of private sector, in the last issue. This year’s India Infrastructure Report (IIR) on the theme ‘The Road to Universal Health Coverage’, continues with the discussion on social infrastructure initiated in the last IIR. The health sector for long has not been given the necessary attention by both central and state governments and this is reflected in very poor health outcomes for the population. This IIR covers the issues and challenges faced in providing good quality and affordable healthcare to all.
