Hospital Preparedness and Response: 2008 Mumbai Terror Attacks

during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and assessed the preparedness of the hospitals to deal with such a crisis from the
healthcare providers’ perspective. Moreover, it attempts to document lessons learnt and identify ways of
improving the response based on experiences of the providers. The study has used in-depth interviews of
staff present during attacks in the four hospitals. It captures detailed accounts of staff interaction within
and outside the hospitals, constraints faced and recommendations for measures to be taken ensuring
efficiency.
