Depending upon the criterion of ownership (whether private or public/social), infrastructure may be classified into: (i) social infrastructure or social overhead capital and (ii) private infrastructure. In an economy, there are many instancesof the first, like roadways, ports, railways, power network, universities, colleges and schools, hospitals, and so on that are publicly owned.
