Published By: FES on ess | Published Date: August, 24 , 2008

This paper is an account of the main streams discussed in an international conference, held in New York in April 2008, organized by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and Global Policy Forum, which considered the right to food and the role of the United Nations in responding to the global food crisis. The paper argues for effective short-term aid and long-term transformation of the agricultural system to make it more justly distributive, resilient, and sustainable for the future.
