Mongolia: Development Effectiveness Brief

It is a transition that has not been without challenges, marked by periods of rapid growth and moderate progress in poverty reduction, but also punctuated by exogenous shocks such as the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis and the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. More recently, anemic commodity prices and lackluster demand from Mongolia’s biggest trading partner, the PRC, have presented yet more challenges.
