Women and Conflict in Afghanistan

It examines gaps and challenges to women’s legal, political and economic empowerment; identifies risks and opportunities in the context of the security transition,
elections and negotiations with the Taliban and recommends ways of protecting and advancing the rights gained in the last twelve years. Field research was conducted in Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif, Herat, Kandahar and Jalalabad. Some names and places have been withheld on security grounds.
