Let Them Fly - A Multi-Agency Response to Child Marriages in Haryana

The Prohibition of Child Marriages Act (PCMA), 2006 came into effect on 1 November, 2007 replacing the Child Marriage Restraint Act of 1929. PCMA is a social re-engineering mechanism which mandates State Governments to establish structures such as Child Marriage Prohibition Officers who are empowered to prevent child marriages. The current report is a review of the implementation of the act in Haryana through the Protection-cum-Prohibition Officer (PPOs).
