Published By: Koshish | Published Date: December, 01 , 2012There have been very serious linkages between destitution and beggary; both with helpless people getting into beggary as well as state punishing working poor on charges of beggary under legislations like the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959. It is a common belief that those who are into begging make a lot of money, they do it as choice and therefore, they deserve to be punished. However, this is based more on the popular notions in society but in reality, these notions have very little relevance.
