Poverty Alleviation Programmes in India

This monograph tries to analyse the nature of poverty in India in its various dimensions, particularly emphasising its social underpinnings, and Government initiatives to alleviate rural poverty. It discusses at length the various schemes and programmes, formulated by the Government for poverty alleviation, and the nature of public spending on poverty alleviation, and also attempts a critique of the same.
