Labour Processes and the Dynamics of Global Value Chain: A Developing Country Perspective

This paper with specific reference to India argues that limited view of verticality of production fails to appreciate the fact that choices of locations, the amount of rent created, the shift of value chains and the changes in relative importance of various nodes are not endogenous to the chain itself but are mutually determined by a complex network of actors, institutions and power relations, a large part of which lie outside the chain.
