Research Priorities in Indian Agriculture

Published By: National Centre for Agriculture Economics and Poli | Published Date: January, 01 , 1995

The authors of this paper assert that under average conditions in Indian agriculture healthy, problem-focused and client oriented research and extension systems rely on strong socio-economic inputs and on a sound institutional base. A dynamic and client-focused research and extension system will generate enthusiasm and self-esteem among those responsible for interacting with clients, and so will create a climate for stronger linkages among researchers, extension workers and intended clients. This paper draws on a large number of existing reports and on interviews with directors and senior staff of ICAR, KVKs and state agricultural universities.
