Implementing Integrated Natural Resources Management Projects

The Government of India recently enacted the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act(NREGA) 2005.1 The NREGA guarantees onehundred days of wage employment every year to every rural household whose adult members are willing to do unskilled manual work. The article focuses on the implementers of the NREGA at the district, block and panchayat levels. “Integrated natural resource management(INRM) is a way to ensure that the uses of natural resources are ecologically sustainable. It is ‘integrated’ because it attempts to manage all the activities that could affect natural resources, taking natural processes into account as well.
