on accelerating growth in domestic production and
consumption of steel to achieve global competitiveness
not only in terms of cost quality and product mix,
but also to match global benchmarks of efficiency
and productivity. It is committed to raise indigenous
production to over 100 million tonnes by 2019–20
from the 2004–05 level of 38 million tonnes,
