Indian Study on Epidemiology of Asthma, Respiratory Symptoms and Chronic Bronchitis (INSEARCH)

Published By: ICMR on eSS | Published Date: September, 25 , 2010

Chronic respiratory diseases (CRD) which includes asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), may account for an estimated burden of about 100 million individuals in India. There are only a few studies from India on the field of epidemiology of ashthma. The prevalence rates for both disorders reported in different studies have widely varied. The objective of this study is to find differences in epidemiology of asthma and chronic bronchities, including in the prevalence rates and other casual variables (age, gender, place of residence, income and occupation etc.), if any, in different parts of the country.
