Growing evidences demonstrate that the mountainous societies in South and Southeast Asian countries are underway of dynamic agrarian transition in the context of market integration leading to emergence of market-responsive farm- livelihood systems. However, the livelihoods of these communities remain to be at stake and highly vulnerable to the market forces in the absence or failure of effective state support and institutional interventions facilitating mobilisation for collective action and thereby internalise the positive outcomes of market integration.
