Cost and Effectiveness of Regulating Infectious Disease Control in Rural China

Infectious diseases are still recognized as severe public health problems at present in China, especially in poor rural areas. About 24% of total disease burden in terms of DALYs was attributed to infectious and maternal health problems. In 1999, the mortality rate from infectious diseases for rural people living in poor counties was 2-3 fold of that for people living in high and middle-income counties.
