According to the GATT principle of most favoured nation (MFN) treatment, trade must be conducted on the basis of non-discrimination between Members of the WTO. 'Like Products' must be taxed the same way and placed under similar entry conditions. However, in some circumstances, a country may temporarily break this principle and impose higher protection against import of one or more goods from one or more countries.
