The Mystery of China’s Sinking Stocks

The article exposes the shortcomings of China’s stock markets and examines the failed attempts by the government to introduce meaningful stock-market reform. China has largely avoided major policy blunders in its 25 years of economic reforms.The reform of the stock market, however, has not achieved the intended results. Only by focusing on fundamentals and by boldly opening up the market to qualified companies can China’s stock market improve its health and function as a major engine of economic growth.
