Looking Beyond Literacy: Disparities in Levels of and Access to Education in a Kerala Village

This paper makes an attempt at understanding why inequalities continue to exist in the educational profile of the population despite high literacy, universal enrollment in schools and relatively better infrastructural facilities. In this connection, the questions relating to entry barriers in higher education and labour market outcomes gain considerable significance.
