Innovation Systems as Patent Networks

In the paper uses data for patents granted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a UN organization to map national innovations. Rather than analyzing in which fields, or sectors, patents are granted, which would meet with all the drawbacks that patents have as an indicator for innovation the authors use different information that can be drawn from patents.
