Published By: | Published Date: April, 16 , 2007While family surveys are excellent for elucidating patterns of infant and child mortality and thus targeting interventions, they are not the best source of information on the effectiveness of interventions to reduce mortality. Indeed, simple regression analysis of family survey data can often produce biased and misleading results that should definitely not form the basis for policy. The best sources of effectiveness information are randomized field trials.
