The Health Burden of Dust Pollution in the Textile Industry of Faisalabad, Pakistan

The study focuses on the high incidence of occupational health hazards faced by women and men working in the textile industry of Pakistan. One of the most relevant risk factors is exposure to airborne dust generated by fibers, which causes byssinosis and other respiratory impairments. Since these illnesses affect workers’ health, productivity and quality of life very seriously, it estimates the disease burden and cost through a study of workers in the textile industry of Faisalabad, Pakistan.
