The death in custody of writer Mushtaq Ahmed in a Bangladesh prison for a Facebook post that criticised the country’s handling of the Covid 19 pandemic is one of a growing number of instances of intolerance of governments to any sort of public criticism. Ahmed was in pre-trial detention for nine months.
Mumbai Press Club joins in condemning the incarceration of both and Ahmed’s subsequent death.
