Horizontal and Vertical Inequalities in India

Indian income inequality reflects the high values typical of most low and middle income economies, well above those observed for the high income LIS countries. There is also substantial variation in income levels and income inequality across Indian states- comparable to the variations across LIS high-income countries. The highest income Indian states have three times the income as the low-income states.
