Urbanization, Inequity and Health in India: a Landscape

In India an official definition of the term urban by Census is: over 5000 population; a population density of over 400 persons per sq km; over 75% of male workforce in non-primary activities. This article focuses on the relationship between the urban and rural areas of the country. It sheds light on the urbanization process in the country and how rural to urban migration leads to rising inequality for access to healthcare to the migrants who constitute the urban poor. This article tries to shed light on this issue and looks for ways to address it.
