Apostasy and the Freedom of Belief: A New Islamic Perspective

Jad’s argument affirms that freedom of belief and the freedom to remain in the Muslim community or to abandon it are guaranteed by several Quranic verses. The author interprets the application of the apostasy rule during the days of the Prophet as having been related to the apostates’ joining the infidel camp and battling Muslims.
