The Indian Bond Market

This paper tries to explain the main characteristics of the Indian government and corporate bond markets and what has contributed to the poor development of the latter. It goes on to show that an opportunity, which has arisen in the Indian bond market due to inflation, could not only help diversify and deepen the government bond market but also have positive spillover effect on the corporate bond market; the paper also focuses on the issue of inflation- indexed bonds.
