Causes and Consequences of Income Inequality: A Global Perspective

The discussion above suggests that a variety of inter-related factors can impact inequality and have potentially differential effects across countries and income groups. In this section, using a simple panel econometric approach with year and country fixed effects we investigate the drivers of within country changes in income inequality for a sample of almost 100 advanced economies and EMDCs over the period 1980–2012.
