Information on vegetation is important for the planning of regional natural resources management carbon cycling studies, terrestrial primary productivity modeling of hydrology, energy and climate. In situ estimation of Leaf Area Index (LAI) is often time consuming, expensive, unfeasible for remote locations and sometimes destructive, however, remote sensing can meet the data needs in it timely and consistent manner.
