eSS Sunday Edit: Do the Liberal Arts Have Any Authority in the Digital Age?

The teacher has traditionally been invested with epistemic authority: the legitimate exercise of knowledge and expertise-as-power in the transmission of learning. Teaching is a specific exercise of authority. It is this form of authority that has taken a beating in the digital university and classroom.
